About The Afghanistan Value Chains Program (AVCP):
The Afghanistan Value Chains Program (AVCP), run by DAI Global, LLC (DAI) and sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), aims to promote the country’s agricultural sector as a driver of long-term economic development. AVCP can do this by assisting foundational businesses in the livestock and agricultural value chains. Through a market systems development strategy and the use of ‘Deal Notes,’ which are co-designed agreements that adapt to crucial restrictions while pushing project objectives, the AVCP works as a partner and assists anchor enterprises. To enhance sales, investments, and productivity, among other critical metrics, AVCP works almost solely with agribusinesses and other value chain partners to execute Deal Notes. Anchor business expansion has a direct, beneficial effect on rural economies, families, and lives via increased efficiency, profitability, and fortification of value chains.
Input providers or traders with ties to big wholesalers, processors, and farmer groups are prime targets for AVCP interventions because of the sway they have over the rest of the value chain. This will allow AVCP to realize its underlying goals of
- First, the value chains will be more stable and productive.
- Second Sub-Goal: Boosting Agribusinesses’ Bottom Lines and Productivity.
- Subgoal No. 3: Encourage Afghan Women to Work in Farming.
- Goal 4: Increased Efforts to Counter and Adapt to Climate Change.
