About scholarship:
For the year, the UK Department of Education, in partnership with the British Council, announced two new scholarship initiatives for Afghan students affected by the conflict in their country. The scholarships are designed to help Afghan students of all levels pay for their education in the UK for up to four years.
Warm Welcome Full Degree Scholarships will be awarded to qualifying students in the UK with ties to Afghanistan who will begin a full-time undergraduate, taught master’s, or Ph.D. program in the academic year 2022/23 (September/October 2022).

Deadline:
- Announced date: May 17, 2022.
- Applicants for bachelor’s and master’s degrees should apply to HEPs by June 10, 2022. HEPs must confirm their offers and sponsorship for the award by June 17, 2022.
- Ph.D. candidates must apply to HEPs by June 17, 2022. HEPs must confirm their offers and sponsorship for the award by July 1, 2022.
Scholarship eligibility criteria:
- Scholars who are qualified for a seat at a UK institution and fit into one of the following categories are eligible for the program:
- Resettlement via the Afghanistan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP).
- Resettlement via the Afghanistan Citizens Resettlement Scheme (ACRS).
- Those with ties to Afghanistan who are already enrolled at a UK institution but are struggling financially owing to the country’s predicament.
- Afghan British Nationals (ABNs), who were evacuated during Operation Pitting and entered bridging accommodation or presented as homeless to a council, but who hold British citizenship or some other status that allows them to remain and reside in the UK without needing to be granted leave to remain, are referred to as ABNs.
- Current Afghan students in UK institutions are eligible for the In-Year Scholarship.
- The Full Degree Scholarship is for Afghan students in the UK who will begin their studies in September or October 2022.
Scholarship terms and conditions:
- You must not take any other government-sponsored prize (for example, a student loan or another scholarship).
- Applicants are permitted to work part-time.
- You can seek further government aid or benefits. If appropriate.
- Adult Dependents Grant.
- Parental Learning Allowance and Childcare Grant (CCG).
- Allowance for Disabled Students (DSA).
- You must adhere to the conduct and attendance requirements set forth by your school.
- You must refrain from engaging in any political or public-spirited activity that might harm the British government.
How to Apply:
