About UWC Scholarships:
Students who are Afghan citizens currently living in Afghanistan, or who are refugees in any other country, are encouraged to apply to the UWC National Committee of Afghanistan. Please note that you are not eligible to apply through the UWC National Committee of Afghanistan if you are a permanent resident or a citizen of a country other than Afghanistan. Please submit your application to the national committee of the country where you are a citizen or have permanent residence.
Unlike last year, the application procedure will be totally online this year.
This means you can apply from anywhere in the world and you won’t have to worry about the overall logistics of the selection process.
Scholarship details:

- Type of scholarship: fully funded.

Scholarship requirement:
- All candidates must have been born between August 1, 2005, and August 15, 2009.
- Candidates to provide both a valid Tazkira and an Afghan passport. No application will be considered from anybody who cannot provide both a valid Tazkira and an Afghan passport.
- Your original work is required for this application. Any hint that you received assistance from anybody other than yourself with your application will result in an automatic dismissal.
- A working email and phone number are both required. Applications that don’t include a working email and phone number will be dismissed.
- The whole application process is done in English, thus all candidates need to be fluent in the language.
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
Candidates are chosen by the UWC National Committee of Afghanistan based on the following criteria:
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR
You will be responsible for securing all travel documents if you are nominated by the national committee (passport, visa, etc.). We can’t guarantee that you’ll be granted a visa. If an applicant does not acquire a visa, their offer to attend UWC may be canceled.
CONSENT OF THE PARENTS
The UWC scholarship is for a two-year residential program (with separate rooms for male and female students); parental approval is essential for consideration.
Intellectual curiosity and motivation: You have a genuine desire to learn more about the world. You understand a variety of local and global concerns and can critically analyze them.
Active commitment: You can question, challenge, and reflect on your own, your family’s, and your community’s values. You have the ability to act ethically and courageously in accordance with your values.
Social Competence: You can communicate with people, collaborate, and interact in a courteous manner. You can express yourself in a variety of situations and to a variety of individuals, and you can work together to find answers.
Resilience, personal responsibility, and integrity: During difficult times, you may take care of yourself physically and emotionally. You have a strong desire to follow UWC’s beliefs, as well as a sense of humility and openness to listen.
Motivation: You are motivated and capable of contributing to UWC and actively promoting its principles.

- Choose “UWC National Committee” as your application path unless you wish to apply through the UWC Global Selection Program.
- After the deadline, applications will not be accepted. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- After submitting your application, check your email to see if you received a confirmation email from us saying that your application was received.
