Job summary:
The Financial Controller’s responsibilities include ensuring that financial administration runs smoothly in compliance with GIZ rules.
- at GIZ Head Office, successfully coordinating with workers from the finance team or the Commercial Affairs Department.
- Payments in cash and bank deposits
- GIZ-assisted initiatives require financial planning, monitoring, and accounting.
Details about the tasks.
- Financial services, invoice verification, and debt reduction
- Invoices are checked and prepared by the Financial Controller.
- Obligos are reduced.
- Fills in the blanks in the procurement files with invoice copies, Winpaccs numbers, and other pertinent information.
- Settlements on travel expenses.
Internal control:
- The Financial Controller verifies the correctness and allocation to cost units and categories of the vouchers and receipts presented by the projects/programs, and corrects them as needed; this includes Financing Agreements and Local Subsidies.
- Provides financial advice on projects.
- Internal controls are carried out in line with GIZ’s internal controlling handbook.
General support for GIZ-supported initiatives and activities.
The Financial Controller:
- Plrepares monthly and annual budgets, as well as keeping track of variances.
- produces quarterly/annual spending evaluations in comparison to the entire project budget (budget monitoring).

- aids in the distribution of cash to projects.
Additional responsibilities/tasks
- All difficulties with financial administration and compliance are immediately reported to the Financial Controller.

Job qualification and requirement
Experience in the field: a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a similar capacity
Other talents and experiences (e.g., language, IT, social and personal skills, etc.):
- a thorough understanding of accounting software
- solid understanding of ITC technologies (associated software, phone, fax, email, and the internet) and computer applications (e.g., MS Office).
- Data and information are handled in a secure manner.
- Fluency in Dari/Pashto and English is required; knowledge of German is a plus.
- desire to upskill as necessary by the duties to be undertaken – management agrees on related measures
