Job summary:

The person in this role will not work directly for CARE; instead, he or she will be introduced to other organizations in order to gain experience.

Key Functions Description

Trainees are employed to work in the province of Herat and are accountable for reporting on time and attending to where they are introduced. He or she will be placed in an Apprenticeship program to learn new skills and increase their capacity in order to be able to apply what they have learned in the future. However, his or her participation in the Apprenticeship program will allow him or her to be placed in the enterprises or firms to which he or she is presented. He or she will report to CARE as needed and complete the timesheet for the days worked.

Duty location: Herat province.

Main Job Responsibilities:

  • Attend the Apprenticeship program successfully and faithfully serve the companies/firms to which he/she is referred.
  • During the Apprenticeship program for the field in which he/she is introduced, able to acquire new methods.
  • Easily attend, maintain track, and offer evidence that his or her capacity has improved.
  • Attend training (theoretical and on-the-job) as scheduled by companies/firms or teams in order to acquire new methods and approaches that will aid in his/her capacity-building efforts.
  • During the Apprenticeship time, do the assigned Apprentice task according to the plan and schedule.
  • For Apprenticeship, travel to the chosen company’s vicinity/assigned places.
  • Perform the Apprenticeship method successfully in the designated places, within the allotted time limit, and submit a report to CARE detailing the time spent and strategies learned.
  • Ensure the correctness of the work and maintain the companies’/firms’ and Project’s confidentiality by reporting any difficulties identified throughout the Apprenticeship to program personnel as soon as possible.
  • Coordination between the CARE Herat project team and the companies/firms that were introduced to work.
  • Organizing and handing over the needed documents for the work/apprenticeship program according to instructions.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

Competency:

  • Ability to quickly pick up new skills and methods.
  • Honest, proactive, and kind.

Education:

University fresh graduate (at least in 2020) or similar professional credentials. Agriculture, livestock, veterinary medicine, education, medical institutions and faculty, and business management graduates are desired.

Work experience: Fresh Students.

Language Requirement: Proficiency in Dari, written and spoken both Pashto and English.

Skills and experience requirements:

  • University recent graduate (2020 graduates).
  • Based on the project mandate and proposal, being an IDP or Returnee is a bonus and a priority.
  • Women and girls who meet the following requirements will have a better chance of being chosen.
  • Ability to devote time to the apprenticeship program and a strong desire to succeed.
  • Having the graduation certificate in hand as proof of graduating
  • Ability to travel to the job site and a sense of responsibility to report to CARE when requested.
  • Ability to quickly grasp the work context and work hard enough to be employed full-time when the apprenticeship period ends.
