About Welcome Crops Program:
The Welcome Corps is a brand-new initiative that would enable American organizations to directly support refugees to settle in local communities. It was introduced by the Biden administration on September 30.
This program allows private persons to relocate people from anywhere in the globe as long as they qualify as refugees under US law, unlike prior initiatives that have concentrated on importing people from specific countries, such as Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Venezuela.

Who Can Apply:
Your group of five permanent residents or Americans may sponsor one family or group of refugees. There is a current limit of one application per user. The next application period will begin three months after the refugees arrive in the US if their first application is granted.
No matter their country, the person or people you’re looking to sponsor must fulfill all of the following requirements to be considered a refugee under U.S. law:
- Outside of their nation, they reside.
- They are not American citizens.
- They happen to reside in a nation where sponsored refugees may be interviewed and their cases handled by the United States government. (Note: For more information on countries where the Welcome Corps is not accessible, see below.).
- If they are refugees of Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, or Venezuelan nationality, or if the UNHCR or the government of their home country already registered them as refugees on or before September 30, 2023, they must have a Form I-134 or I-134A filed on their behalf by that date. By the time the form was submitted, they had to have been outside of their country of nationality.
- They must be at least 18 years old, or accompanied by a parent if they are minors. When referred, anyone who is under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian with them.
- Their eligibility for resettlement to the US under the US Refugee Admissions Program has not been previously refused.
- Everyone seeking to be sponsored must be a refugee and must be a resident of the same country or want to reside in the same residence upon arrival in the United States.
- The present location of the refugee or refugee family does not matter when applying to sponsor them via the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) or the Afghan Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program, provided that they already have a case number. However, as previously stated, children who are not in the company of an adult should not go to the Welcome Corps.
- If you want to sponsor someone for resettlement in the US, they must first complete the government’s refugee screening and vetting procedure. Your application to sponsor an individual’s immigration to the US is not a guarantee of approval.
You and a couple of your friends may combine your money through the Welcome Corps program to create an immigration pathway that enables disadvantaged persons who might not otherwise be able to immigrate to rebuild their lives in the US. To create a private sponsor group, you must assemble a minimum of five local individuals and raise $2,275 for each refugee you want to resettle in your region. Sponsors agree to assist for the first three months of their stay, which may include finding and furnishing accommodation, filling the pantry with food, assisting with job searches, and enrolling children in school.
