About MEXT Scholarship Program
Japan Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) offers scholarship opportunities for Afghan students who are seeking to study higher education in japan for 2022 under the scholarship program (MEXT) qualification is below:
The Embassy of Japan requests the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to inform the Ministry of Higher Education that a maximum of 20 qualified students who wish to study in Japan under this scholarship program (MEXT), prepare their documents and Introduce for this scholarship programs.

Qualification and requirement:
- Applicants Must be citizenship of Afghanistan.
- Applicants must have a great background academic in high school.
- Applicants must be good physical and mental health.
- Purposefulness and enthusiasm for education will lead to improved relations between Afghanistan and Japan.
- Applicants must be under 35 years of age (born after April 2, 1987) have a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or equivalent.
- Applicants must able to write and speak English (for English courses) or Japanese (for Japanese language courses).
Selection procedures for 2021
- Selecting candidates will be based on the results of the exam, taken by the Embassy of Japan, and the Embassy of Japan will determine the suitable and qualified candidates for (MEXT) program.
- MEXT then selects the most experienced and qualified students nominated by Japanese embassies and consulates in all countries of the world.
Timetable for result of 2021 MEXT program.
- The latest deadline for Afghan students to complete the application form is May 20, 2021.
- Review and check the application form in Early June 2021
- The entrance exam will take Mid-June 2021
- Shortlisting of candidates: Recent June 2021
- The result will be announced in January 2021
Note:
It is worth mentioning that if the number of candidates exceeds the number of scholarship seats will give for (20 students), and 20 candidates will be selected and introduced for the MEXT program the selection process will be introducing the highest percentage of grades (10 for master’s degree and 10 for doctoral).
How to apply
All interested students will be informed to visit room No. 21 of the General Admission Office of the Ministry of Higher Education to obtain the forms and before May 20, 2021.
