Job responsibility:
The applicants will report to the Head of Project Implementation Unit and will give assistance to the Arghandab project as well as strengthen the team and field operations.
- Collaborate with the communities and project process to determine important farming concerns that may be leveraged in the project planning process to guarantee a bottom-up approach.
- Work closely with the provincial team to assist diffusion of demand-driven better technologies supported under the project to men and women farmers;
- Participate in the selection process of project locations, both for watersheds and irrigation schemes.
- Collaborate with community mobilizers in the provincial government recruitment process for farmers’ field schools, kitchen gardens, and orchard.
- conduct Site field surveys to gather data for orchard development, on-farm activities, Farmers field school, and kitchen gardening (KG).
- Generate site plan and activity reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
- The extension worker will visit the field on a regular basis and meet the sub project .beneficiaries, working closely with the provincial agricultural officer.
- The extension worker will assist the project personnel in improving seed distribution under the B component.
- Collaborate with the community mobilizer to participate in community mobilization/meetings, identify farmers, organize organizations, and eventually promote the formation of FFS.
- Using the (FFS) Farmer Field School principal, support farmer groups through field trips and training.
- Provide training to farmers in innovative horticulture techniques and procedures in order to increase production in high-value horticulture.
- Agricultural extension will join district-level meetings with DAIL’s help and write reports for the Provincial Extension Coordinator.
- The Agricultural Extension will provide the various services that the Provincial Coordinator has asked.
- As allocated by the PIU Head, execute other tasks.
Job requirement:
- The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in agricultural sciences.
- And also, have at least three years of verifiable experience in the field of promotional agriculture or any other field of crop production, ideally with projects provided by donors.
- The applicants should have skills in accessing, acquiring, and getting information from a number of sources have been demonstrated.
- Excellent organizational abilities and the ability to prioritize and complete projects on time, even while working under extreme time constraints;
- Excellent social, communication, leadership, and report writing skills.
- The applicants must be fluent in the national languages (Pashto and Dari) as well as English.
