About the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO):
A small number of scholarships are available via the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and the Hungarian Government. The Hungarian University of Agriculture in Budapest accepts international candidates for its master’s programs in Agricultural Water Management Engineering and Biotechnology.
The FAO-Hungarian Government Scholarship is a fully financed program that includes housing, health insurance, stipend, and sustenance costs in addition to application and tuition fees. The Hungarian government will pay for all of the aforementioned allowances in 2023.
Scholarship Details:

Scholarship requirements:
- Interested applicants should prepare a dossier consisting of the following items to be provided by email: Application form properly filled out.
- An updated curriculum vitae
- A copy of the diploma attached, transcript, or record of studies from high school or college.
- A copy of your English proficiency certificate.
- Copies of the pertinent passport pages, including the date of expiration and passport number.
- A recommendation letter.
- Motivation statement.
- a health certificate from a physician.
- A Certificate of Good Conduct from the neighborhood police department.
Scholarship Qualification:
- Citizenship and permanent residence in one of the nations that qualify.
- Outstanding academic achievements.
- Language competence in English (for courses taught in English).
- Motivation.
- Being healthy.
- Age (candidates under 30 are favored) (candidates under 30 are preferred).
Scholarship procedure:
There will be two stages to the student selection process:
Phase 1: FAO will pre-screen applicants and transmit applications to Hungary’s Ministry of Agriculture, which will forward them to the relevant University of the applicants’ choice. Just COMPLETE dossiers must be submitted by students. Dossiers that are incomplete won’t be looked at. The processing of nameless files is disabled.
Phase 2: As part of the admissions process, selected students may be required to complete a written or oral English examination. Each of the successful candidates will be informed once another round of selection is conducted by the participating university. Without any engagement from FAO, the Universities alone will choose the students. The Ministry will also inform the chosen pupils.
