About scholarship:
In 1982, the “Gabriele d’Annunzio” University, which began as a “Free University” in 1965, became a state-owned college. There are now 13 Departments and 2 Schools. Chieti, which serves as the university’s registered office and houses the Rectorate and General Management, and Pescara are the two university campuses.
The “Gabriele d’Annunzio” University (UdA) in Chieti-Pescara is giving 19 foreign scholarships to Afghani and Ukrainian students. Candidates can apply for a free access Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the academic year 2022/2023.
Scholarship details:

- The number of scholarships: 19. Three (3) scholarships are granted for Afghan students and 16 scholarships are granted for Ukraine students.

Scholarship benefits:
- Tuition for the whole degree program will be covered.
- commencing on the day of arrival or the day the scholarship is awarded, free lodging at the ADSU Residence in Pescara.
- ADSU canteens in Pescara and Chieti provide two daily reduced-price meals.
- Registration and access to “MYPAGE UdA” assistance.
- Italian language classes will be supplied if necessary.
- Upon arrival, the Student Mobility Team will meet you and assist you with social integration.
- You will receive particular psychological assistance and advice upon arrival. Materials are also provided for pupils who are struggling or have special learning issues.
Scholarship eligibility:
- Candidates must be Afghan or Ukrainian citizens.
- For admission to a three-year Bachelor’s Degree program or a two-year Master’s Degree program at UdA, applicants must hold a recognized educational qualification.
- A valid international protection residence permit or a Refugee Identity Card is required (UNHCR Refugee Identity Card or Proof of Registration).
- Alternatively, they must hold (or have sought) a residence visa for international protection as a result of the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan or Ukraine, according to current Italian immigration rules.
- Candidates should not have used the University’s website to pre-register for an Italian institution.
- Transfer students from other Italian colleges are not eligible for these grants.
Scholarship requirement:
- a photo of their passport or other forms of identification
- A copy of a valid international protection residence permit or a Refugee Identity Card from the country where the candidate is registered (Refugee Identity Card or Proof of Registration issued by UNHCR). The residency permit must be valid at the time the application is filed.
- CV or resume that has been updated.
- A copy of the degree certificate or school leaving certificate, as well as a transcript of records or any other pertinent document, is required. The institution that granted the title must issue the certificate.
- A paper certifying the candidate’s ability to speak in Italian.

- The form identifies their preferred program.
- Any other documentation that will aid in evaluating and certifying the applicant’s training and education.
- Applicants must provide an Italian translation of papers written in languages other than Italian, as well as a Dichiarazione di Valore in loco (academic equivalence certificate) or the CIMEA certificate for holders of international protection status.
- Only those candidates who are unable to submit their application materials in Italian may email their English translation to [email protected].
Scholarship selection criteria:
- The Department for the Right to Education and Disability at “G. D’Annunzio” University analyzes the entrance standards.
- A basic evaluation of the qualifications of applicants will be conducted, followed by an interview.
- When the procedure for review is over. Candidates are given a maximum of 100 points. The Committee may grant each application a maximum of 60 points for the applicant’s credentials and a maximum of 40 points for the interview.
- Those who earn a preliminary score of 1 to 40 will be invited to an interview.
- Interviews will be conducted online.
- Applicants that are selected for the interview process will be notified in advance of the date, time, and platform for the interviews.
- Those without an official language certification may be tested at the interview to demonstrate their Italian language skills, as well as any other languages mentioned in their application.
