The Hansen Leadership Institute 2020 in the USA formerly
known as the Hansen Summer Institute for Leadership and International
Cooperation — is an exciting international program funded by a generous grant
from the Fred J. Hansen Foundation. Hansen Summer Institute (HSI) is named one
of the top summer fellowships in the world. The fully-funded
summer exchange program in the US will take place on July 2020 at the
University of San Diego School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES).
The duration of an international summer school in 2020 is three weeks.
A primary goal of the
Hansen Leadership Institute is to create an international community of young
scholars who will use their summer experience as a foundation for creating
lasting friendships and acquiring common practical skills and training for the
creation of a more peaceful future. The program includes classroom and hands-on
instruction outside the classroom in the latest techniques of conflict
resolution, mediation, and intercultural dialogue and management. Classroom
training complements local excursions to San Diego historical attractions and
cultural events, including but not limited to Balboa Park, Sea World, a Fourth
of July parade, harbor cruise and a visit to the US-Mexico border.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- Upper-division undergraduate with 2 years of college or university, or a graduate student with a professional interest in international relations, diplomacy, international economic development or related studies.
- He student must be between the ages of 20-25 on July 1, 2020.
- Have demonstrated leadership potential outside of the classroom, in the community, nation or region.
- Have an academic advisor verify the student’s English proficiency.
- Have a valid international passport with US visa if necessary by the time the program begins.
- Preference may be given to students who have never been to the United States before but all qualified students are encouraged to apply
How to apply
- Visit the Hansen Leadership Institute Scholarship Application Portal and fill the online application form.
- New Applicants/First Time Users: Click the “Create New Account” button below in order to begin a new application.
- Existing Applicants: Enter your Username and Password to complete the application. (Your username is the email address and password you initially used to set up your account.)
- Forgot Password: Click on “Forgot Password” and enter your login email address to reset your password. Once complete, an email will be sent to you that asks you to reset your password. You will receive a confirmation email once you’ve successfully reset your password.
