About Fellowship:
The NAM-HKU Fellowship in Global Health Leadership was established by the University of Hong Kong and the United States National Academy of Medicine to provide a two-year training program for early to mid-career scholars to learn and work in areas related to global health leadership at the HKU School of Public Health and the United States National Academy of Medicine. From 2019 onwards, one Fellow will be selected each year for the first three years of the fellowship program.

About the program:
The following items will be included in the two-year Fellowship:
- Scholarship to study part-time or full-time in the Master of Public Health program at The University of Hong Kong, Asia’s Global University, and Hong Kong’s oldest university.
- a three-month stay at the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) in Washington, D.C., every year for two years, during which time the Fellow will learn from and interact with a relevant Board/Expert Committee/Roundtable, and will be sponsored by a faculty advisor who is a member of NAM.
- For the two three-month stints at NAM, roundtrip travel and lodging are included.
- Studying at HKU School of Public Health, which is a pioneer in postgraduate and professional education and training in public health in Asia and has a globally renowned track record of creative and ground-breaking research in the field.
Eligibility criteria:
Early-career and mid-career academics worldwide are encouraged to apply, with a special focus on scholars from Asia and the Pacific. The following are requirements for candidates:
- be able to communicate effectively in English
- hold a graduate degree (either a master’s or a doctorate) and have completed postgraduate study within the last 2-10 years.
- have proven interest and dedication in global health policy, governance, diplomacy, sustainable development, healthy cities, health equality, health systems, and economics, or related disciplines.
- The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) in the United States and The University of Hong Kong (HKU) in Hong Kong are both equal rights employers who accept applications from competent women and men. All selections shall be made solely based on competence.
