About Scholarship:

Applications for the NSP Slovak Republic are now being accepted. In order to promote student, Ph.D., university teaching, research, and creative mobility, the Slovak Republic’s government approved the establishment of the National Scholarship Program in 2005. The National Scholarship Program, or NSP, is funded by the Slovak Republic’s Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport. International students’ movement for fellowship stays at higher education institutions and research organizations in Slovakia is encouraged by the National Scholarship Program of the Slovak Republic. Additionally, it promotes the movement of Ph.D. candidates, college instructors, researchers, and artists.

Scholarship Details:

  • Deadline: May 30, 2023.
  • Education level: Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D.
  • Sponsored by: Slovak Republic’s Ministry of Education
  • National: citizens of any country in the world.

Scholarship Eligibility:

College students who attend colleges outside of Slovakia.

  • students who have completed at least 2.5 years of university coursework in the same study program by the application deadline or students who are already enrolled in a master’s program at the second level of higher education.
  • Students who will get academic mobility to study in Slovakia during their higher education abroad and who will be enrolled in a public, private, or state institution in Slovakia.
  • All three conditions must be met.
  • This category does not cover doctoral studies (or their equivalent).

Scholarship eligibility for doctoral researchers and artists:

  • Applicants for the Doctoral degree who are accepted by a public, private, or state university or research institution in Slovakia are qualified to undertake a doctorate study program and are also qualified for academic mobility to study, conduct research, or pursue creative interests while in Slovakia. The Slovak Academy of Sciences is one example of such a contender.
  • Professors, researchers, and artists from international universities who have been requested to spend time instructing, doing research, or creating art in Slovakia by an organization with a Slovakian office and a valid certificate of eligibility for conducting research and development.

Duration of the scholarship:

  • One to two full semesters (four to five or ten months) or one to three full semesters if the academic year is divided into semesters are the lengths of a student’s scholarship stays (i.e., 3 – 4 or 6 – 7 or 9 – 10 months). 
  • Ph.D. scholarship stays might range anywhere from one to 10 months.
  • For university lecturers, researchers, or artists, scholarship stays might last anywhere from one to 10 months.

Documents requirement:

  • curriculum vitae (CV).
  • motivation letter.
  • detailed study program (it is necessary to state the date of the beginning of the stay, duration of the stay, list of subjects that the applicant would like to study during his/her stay, and the number of credits that the applicant will gain for the respective subjects).
  • two recommendation letters issued by the applicant’s university teachers (the document must contain the signature, position, and contact details of the person who issued the document.
  • confirmation issued by the applicant’s home university confirming that the applicant is a regular student of the respective university at the time of
  • scan of the applicant’s bachelor’s diploma, diploma supplement, and state examination certificate (if applicable).
  • admission/invitation letter issued by the applicant’s host university in Slovakia indicating the period of stay.

Selection criteria for this scholarship:

The Committee mostly focuses on.

  • grounds for the applicant’s decision to engage in academic, teaching, research, or creative endeavors at the designated host institution in Slovakia.
  • program of the candidate’s study, research, creative, or teaching stay, as well as how the applicant plans to apply the findings from his or her scholarship stay for future academic or research endeavors or professional advancement.
  • In the recommendation letters, the applicant’s professional and personal qualifications, as well as an evaluation of the scholarship program as offered, are discussed.
  • research or academic accomplishments.
  • support for the hosting institution’s
  • overall caliber of the application that was submitted.

Application period: March 24, 2023, till May 30, 2023.

How to Apply:

Scholarship applications must be submitted online. The online application system opens at least six weeks prior to the application deadline. Applications may only be submitted after the online application system is live. Before the deadline, the application must be completed online, which requires the applicant to fill out the web form, attach all relevant documents in the format indicated, and then submit it by clicking the “SEND” button (the application can only be submitted if all fields are filled in and all required attachments uploaded).
