The Canadian government has released its new immigration strategy for 2022-2024, which will welcome over one million new permanent residents over a three-year period to address labor market shortages and improve the country’s economy.

- In 2022, there will be 431,645 permanent citizens.

The new strategy aims to boost the recruitment and retention of newcomers in areas with significant economic, labor, and demographic concerns. Newcomers who speak French, for example, will be absorbed both inside and outside of Quebec.
Highlights of the 2022-24 strategy that are important:
- By 2024, the percentage of newly accepted newcomers will be 1.14 percent of the Canadian population.
- In the long run, economic class entrance will be expanded to 60%.
- Providing permanent residence to vulnerable populations, such as immigrants/newcomers who labor on the front lines of a pandemic.
- Support for humanitarian immigration to give a safe haven for individuals who are persecuted.
- Granting permanent status to talents who are already in Canada will help to keep them in the country.
The normal period for processing family reunions for spouses and children, according to this strategy, is 13 months.
Canada reiterates its commitment to humanitarian responses to worldwide crises, including the proposal to relocate at least 40,000 Afghans over the next two years. Which has resulted in the arrival of 7,550 Afghans in Canada. The administration is utilizing all available means and routes in order to safely evacuate individuals in Afghanistan.
