About New Zealand Scholarship:
This scholarship honors outstanding foreign academics and assists them in pursuing an undergraduate Engineering degree at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand.
New Zealand Scholarship details:
- Announced date: July 18, 2021.
- Number of scholarships: 35
- Type of scholarship: fully funded.
- Location: New Zealand.

- Closing date:
a) August 15th (for those studying in Aotearoa New Zealand at the time)
b) October 31st (for those who are studying overseas at that date)
c) 1 March (for students who will be enrolling for the first time in Semester 2 or Summer School the following year).
Scholarship eligibility:
- Applicants cannot be: a. New Zealand or Australian nationals; b. Australian permanent residents; or c. holders of Aotearoa New Zealand residency class visas.
- An applicant must have applied to the University for admission to a BE(Hons) degree program before the application deadline (see section 3).
- Participants cannot be present or past students in the University’s BE(Hons) degree program.
Main Factors for selection:
- The selection committee considers the following factors in making its recommendations:
- academic achievement;
- demonstrated commitment to, and interest in, Engineering;
- cultural and/or sporting participation, and/or community service;
- general character; and
- University strategic goals.
- If there are fewer qualified candidates than there are scholarships available in any given year, fewer scholarships are offered.
Payment schedule and value:
- For the year 2022, this scholarship will give $15,000 in financial support.
- This scholarship will be sent into the participant’s University tuition fees account as soon as possible following confirmation of admission, as stated in the clause.
Criteria for tenability and retention
- Recipients must be overseas students who are paying full tuition.
- Students who apply for the award in August or October must begin receiving the grant the following year. Students who apply for the scholarship in March must accept it in the same year they apply.
- The scholarship is available to students enrolled full-time in any year of a BE(Hons) degree at the university.
- The scholarship is for one year only.
- This scholarship cannot be combined with the following: a. The UC International First-Year Scholarship; b. The UC International Second-Year Scholarship; c. The UC International Third-Year Scholarship; d. The (NZ School-Leaver).
- b. The University of California’s International First-Year Scholarship (Offshore).
- Aside from the scholarships stated above, the scholarship can be combined with any other prize unless the other award’s terms prevent it.
- If a recipient’s enrolment in the year of tenure no longer satisfies the requirements outlined in article, the scholarship will be revoked, and any money received will be returned.
- Scholarship renewal is contingent on acceptable academic achievement and compliance with the University’s legislation, policies, regulations, and guidelines.
