About the residency program:
The International Cities of Refuge Network ICORN is accepting applications for its Residency Program for Writers and Artists at Risk. Any writer or artist who is intimidated or punished for expressing their beliefs or ideas through their professional work or/and art is eligible for an ICORN residence.

Benefits of the residency program:
- For the writer/artist and his or her family, a furnished home space is available. The writer/artist will get a scholarship/grant for the period of their stay, the amount of which will be determined by the ICORN Administration Centre.
- All travel expenses for the writer and his or her family (from their home country to the host city and back) will be paid, including passport and visa fees, among other things.
- To aid integration and promotion in the host city, the coordinator(s) will work with the writer/artist (and his or her family).
- During the writer/stay, artist’s suitable working and living circumstances for the writer/artist and his or her family.
- The writer and his or her family can receive health and residence insurance throughout their stay.
- Access to services that will help the writer/artist learn the language of the host nation.
Who is eligible to apply?
An ICORN residence is open to any writer or artist who is intimidated or punished for expressing their beliefs or ideas through their professional work or/and art.
- Creative writers.
- Non-fiction writers.
- Editors, publishers and translators.
- Artists.
- Musicians.
Persecuted writers and artists should keep track of whether they’re:
- Whether you’re in danger of being killed, abducted, physically attacked, or “disappeared” as a direct result of your writing/artistic work, you’re at risk.
- As a direct result of your writing or artistic creation, authorities in your nation have condemned (or are going to send) you to prison.
- Fear of persecution as a result of existing or possible acts by the government or non-governmental entities of the nation in which you reside prevents you from freely expressing yourself via your writing/artistic creation.
