About Australian Humanitarian Visa:
The Australian government stated on January 21, 2022, that over the next four years, it will give 15,000 slots for Afghan people under our Humanitarian and Family Visa programs. Following Australia’s two decades of involvement in Afghanistan, this indicates a long-term commitment.
Over the next four years, 10,000 Afghan citizens will be placed in the offshore Humanitarian Program. In the program year 2021-22, there will be 5,000 spots available. This is an increase of 2,000 spots above the 3,000 spaces announced on August 18, 2021.
According to current patterns, roughly 5,000 visas will be awarded to Afghan citizens under the Migration Program’s Family stream during the next four years.
Priority will be given to the following groups among the 10,000 spots available under the Humanitarian Program:
- former Locally Engaged Employees (LEE) and their immediate family members;
- current and former subclass 449 holders and their immediate family members;
- those with long-standing ties to Australia, such as Afghans who worked for Australian non-government organizations or on Australian government-funded projects, and Coalition partner LEE and their immediate family members;
- and women and girls, ethnic minorities, LGBTQI+ and other identified minority groups.
