The Brazilian Embassy in Tehran has announced that the Humanitarian Visa Program for Afghans has been suspended as of October 1st, 2023, in accordance with Ordinance No. 42/2023 from the Brazilian Federal Government. The Embassy is currently not accepting new applications until the Brazilian Government makes a decision on the Humanitarian Visa Program.
The Brazilian Embassy in Tehran points out that the deadline for filing for humanitarian visas for Afghans has expired on January 10, 2023. The embassy is not affiliated with any intermediary, person, group, firm, or agency involved in the issuing of humanitarian visas. Furthermore, the embassy only evaluates petitions from Afghan nationals who were submitted before the official deadlines.
At present, the consular department gives top priority to three groups of Afghan visa applicants
Group 1) The Afghans who were interviewed have already received approval for their visas, so they handed over their passports to the Consular Section some time ago. The majority of these candidates have already obtained and have been granted their visas. There are a few remaining candidates in the pipeline, and it is expected that their visas will be approved by May 4, 2024. The Consular Section will soon inform the applicants to come and pick up their passports at the Embassy.
Group 2) Afghans who have already been approved for visas from Brazil will receive communication through WhatsApp or mobile phone after April 22nd, 2024, with instructions on when to submit their passports to the Embassy.
Group 3) Those Afghans who have been interviewed but have not received notification regarding their visa status, the Embassy wishes to notify them that the Consular Section is diligently working towards obtaining final approval from Brazil for their visas. They will be informed via WhatsApp/Mobile phone after June 16th, 2024 with a suitable schedule for passport delivery to the Embassy.
