The University of Brunei Darussalam Scholarships are now accepting applications. The UBD Scholarship is available to deserving students from any nation who wish to pursue graduate studies and research at Brunei Darussalam University. The UBD Graduate Research Scholarship (UGRS) is a competitive program given to deserving Ph.D. candidates who have a burning desire to work in a highly competitive, worldwide research environment. UBD is dedicated to providing opportunities for the best students to interact with and network with our researchers in order to enhance their learning experiences, provide them with the tools they need to fully develop their potential, and raise the university’s profile abroad.

Benefits of the Scholarship:
The following costs will be covered by the scholarship:
- free from any tuition costs.
- Expense of one round-trip economy class airfare for students from countries other than Brunei Darussalam.
- stipend of BND 2,200.00 per month for three years.
- Up to BND 1000 for applicants in the humanities and arts and BND 2000 for those in the sciences may be used for field research.
- Free housing (on campus).
- The award for applicants will cover applicants’ visa costs for research and conferences up to BND 3,000.00.
Scholarship Qualification:
- the equivalent of a master’s degree.
- Possess a compelling and excellent research proposal.
- achieving the required English language score (IETS 6, TOEFL 550).
- Not presently receiving/studying on any other scholarships.
Scholarship Documents requirement:
In order to apply for the University of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship, the following documents must be ready:
- Passport-size photo (JPEG, 10 MB maximum size).
- research and (if accessible) publishing.
- (Minimum 1500 words) Research proposal.

- International passport or Brunei identity card certified real copy.
- Academic transcripts, IELTS, TOEFL, BEC scores, and academic certifications (O Level, A Level, HND, etc.), as well as university transcripts (if applicable).
- A security clearance letter from the applicant’s country of origin, if they are international.
- A letter of approval from the employer is required for in-service candidates who work in the public or private sector (but not in the ministries of education or religion).
- For documents that are not in English (with the exception of those in Bahasa Melayu), a certified English translation must be presented.
- Following a successful submission, you will be able to receive a PDF version of your completed application form.
- Employees of the Brunei Government must submit printed application forms via the relevant Ministry.
- Once you have finished the application, you are prompted to click “SUBMIT.”
- You are not needed to send any paper copies once your online application has been filed.
