About Tongarewa Scholarship program:
The Tongarewa Scholarships honor the University’s dedication to our foreign students. Each year, we grant a few of these scholarships to overseas students. This is a fee-based partial scholarship that will cover tuition for one year of study. Applicants must be in their first year of an undergraduate degree or a postgraduate degree program at Victoria University of Wellington to be considered.
Scholarships are given out on a competitive basis based on academic achievement. They will be credited to tuition expenses if they apply to study the following year.
Scholarship details:
- Trimester 1: 30 November 2024; Trimester 2: 1 June 2024; Trimester 3: 1 September 2024 are the deadlines.
- Type of scholarship: partial Scholarship for one year.
- Number of scholarships: 19.
- Host Country: New Zealand.
- Program degree: bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
- Eligible country: International.
- Value of the scholarship: between 5000 and 10,000 New Zealand dollars.
- University: Victoria University of Wellington.
Scholarship benefits:
- The grant will cover college expenses between 5000 and 10,000 New Zealand dollars.
- Furthermore, scholarship recipients who submit an accommodation application before the effective date will be assured a spot in one of the university’s Halls of Residence and housing.
Scholarship eligibility:
- students from other countries who are paying full international rates
- beginning their first year of a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree
- If you: finished your secondary education at a New Zealand school, you are not eligible for this award.
- completed the Foundation Studies Program or the English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
- are a Twinning or Study Abroad student from one of our international partner universities.
- at Victoria University of Wellington, you’re in your second year of study in the same degree program.
Scholarship requirements:
- a 500-word personal essay describing why you want to study at Victoria University of Wellington, your academic ambitions, and why you deserve the scholarship
- Include any leadership positions you’ve held as well as facts about your participation in your school or community.
- complete transcripts and other essential paperwork for the qualification type
- Victoria University of Wellington has offered me a spot (conditional or unconditional).
