About The Wells Mountain Initiative (WMI):

In 2024, students from underdeveloped nations may apply for scholarships via the Wells Mountain Initiative (WMI) Program. Students seeking their first credential (certificate, diploma, or bachelor’s degree) have a fighting chance at this competitive funding opportunity. This grant may pay for all four years of an undergraduate degree.

The American nonprofit Wells Mountain Initiative (WMI) offers scholarships, training, and other educational opportunities to foster community and bring about social change. Fifty to sixty scholarships are awarded annually by the WMI to students from developing nations who want to attend post-secondary institutions (university, trade school, polytechnic). Throughout the program, the scholarship will be available.

Scholarship Eligibility:

The Perfect Student for Us—A male or female student hailing from a poor world nation who:

  • Have finished secondary school with passing or very high marks.
  • Is going to be 35 years old or younger on March 1, 2024.
  • Will be studying in his or her nation or another country in the impoverished world.
  • Is in the process of earning a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Will be engaged in a program of study that will benefit the community and/or contribute to the sustained development and progress of his or her native nation.
  • After finishing college, one intends to remain in one’s own country and work.
  • The applicant has shown a strong desire to help others by volunteering before applying.
  • They could potentially have some more income for college, but they would still need financial aid to attend university.

Scholarship qualifications criteria:

Candidates must also fulfill the following obligations in addition to meeting the aforementioned requirements:

  • Keep your GPA up in every class you take at university.
  • Act as a champion for volunteering and becoming involved in the community.
  • Get 100 hours of volunteer work done throughout the year and keep track of it.
  • Complete the WMI Scholars’ reports on the academic semester and their community service.
  • It is recommended to provide official semester transcripts at least twice a year.
  • Get in touch with the Education Manager via direct communication to discuss your student’s situation.

  • An essay that is related to your application form.

  •   Two letters of recommendation.
  • Official transcript of grades from high school.

  • How to evaluate your national test results using the official grading system.

Applicants also have the option of mailing their paperwork.

  • Three weeks before to the due date, print off the application (PDF), attach any necessary papers, and send it in.
  • A minimum of three weeks prior to the deadline (March 1, 2024) is required for international candidates.
